About Us
One Nation. Every Side.
Radio Purple is an independent American news publication built on a simple conviction: this country is worth understanding, and Americans are capable of hearing both sides and deciding for themselves.
Our mission
We are unapologetically pro-American. We believe the United States, founded on the idea that all people are created equal and endowed with unalienable rights, is a remarkable and good country. Its institutions were built to let free people disagree, argue and govern themselves. We love it enough to tell the truth about it.
Being pro-American is not the same as being partisan. Red and blue are both American colors. Our name and our purple reflect what happens when they are mixed honestly: a full picture, not a filtered one. Too much of today's media sells one half of the story to one half of the country. We give you both halves, then tell you where the evidence points.
How every news story works
- The Overview. What happened, in plain language, with sources linked.
- What the Left Says. The strongest progressive or Democratic case, attributed to real officials, institutions and advocates.
- What the Right Says. The strongest conservative or Republican case, attributed the same way.
- Where Reality Likely Sits. Our analysis of what the evidence supports, what each side gets right, and what is still unknown.
Alongside the news, we publish two civic education columns. Constitution Explained corrects common misunderstandings of constitutional principles, reading the text in light of its original public meaning. American History restores context the popular story often leaves out, including the country's achievements. These are essays with a point of view, clearly labeled, and held to the same sourcing rules.

Editorial standards
- No invented quotes, ever. Every quotation comes from a cited, public source: a transcript, an official statement, a court record or published reporting. If we cannot source it, we do not print it.
- Attribute positions to real people. “The left says” and “the right says” are always tied to named officials, institutions or documents, not strawmen.
- Steelman both sides. Each side should recognize its own argument in our summary. If a partisan would not, we have failed.
- Separate fact from analysis. The Overview reports. “Where Reality Likely Sits” analyzes, and is labeled that way.
- Show our work. Every story ends with a numbered list of sources.
- Date everything. Every story shows its publication date, and updated stories show when they changed.
- Correct openly. Errors are fixed promptly and noted on the story and on our corrections page.
- Independence. Radio Purple is not affiliated with any party, campaign, PAC or candidate. We do not accept payment for coverage. Sponsored content, if we ever run it, will be clearly labeled.
- Guest columns are opinion. Debate Club columnists argue a side by design. Their views are their own, and their columns are labeled with the side they represent.
